Making a Splash (January 2012)
I went for a dip just after Christmas down in the bay near St Kilda.
I know, it's not the kind of thing you tend to announce to the world, but it was 33C bright sun, no wind, and I didn't have a tan at all, just lilly white me.
Here's what happened...
We were deciding where to go - what to do with the temperature climbing to 33C and a unanimous snap decision was made by the four of us to head to the beach. We'd actually brought new bathers the day before at one of the post Christmas Sales.
I have memories of going to beach, having a great time, but coming back with sand everywhere, sunburnt skin, and sunburnt feet. Do you ever remember having sunburnt feet?? It's not so bad the first day, but the next day when you feet start curling up as the burnt skin contracts on the top your feet. It's memories like this that I thought as we headed to the beach in an airconditioned car that screamed at me that I was going to be red, sore and sandy at the end of day.
The one saving grace nowadays is Sun Protection Cream which I plastered on all the exposed body parts I had hoping this would save my precious skin. It wasn't such a big shock to hit the beach and find quite a lot of people with the same idea. But it was a shock getting from the car park down to the waters edge, the sand was at foot melting temperature. Luckily we had brought along a large shade umbrella and once we erected it we had our own oasis of shade on the beach.
Going to the beach for younger generation doesn't seemed to have changed much since when we used to go with our kids, they just strip off to their bathers (mostly) and lie around going pink and pinker, there was the occasional person with tanned skin but most looked to be "go to the beach once a year type of people" like us.
We achieved what we set out to do which was go to the beach on a hot day and have a swim, get covered in sand, tread on molten rock to get to buy an icecream and eat it before it melted, head home and probably not go to the beach again for another year.
Here's a pic. It was hot for us, we're still decent in the photo, we're in the water.
I think its called experience over many years and remembering those bad experiences which helped us to achieve our goal on that hot day in Melbourne, similarly it's our year's of experience in the printing industry we pass on to you to help you achieve great outcomes from our printed materials.
Kind Regards
Rodney Stagg

Enews December 2011 (December 2011 2011)
Dear Reader,
I was surprised to learn that a small group from my old school are organising a reunion for about the time I left school. It seems a long time ago now back in '68. I can't ever remember a reunion for Devonport High School especially for the Class of '68. The dates are on or about 7th April 2012.
A small article appeared in the local paper about 6 months ago to which I responded and I have submitted names of school colleagues I can remember seeing over the last few years. The reunion is for 1967 - 1970 and so far there is about 100+ names from that period on the spreadsheet along a lot of other names.
My brain has been working overtime recalling names and adding them to the list. There was an inaugural Committee Meeting a couple of weeks ago where all resources and names are correlated by the initiator of the event Sonya.
So if you know anyone who went to Devonport High School between 1967 - 1970 whether they were a student or teacher you can send an email to me or to devonporthsreunion1970@gmail.com
I can still feel the tingle just from getting the cuts a few times all those years ago.
Regards
Rodney Stagg
